No, Vince Cable isn’t compelled to resign

An update to my previous post. Vince Cable has today said that he will, after all, vote in favour of the tuition fee rises. This neatly avoids the constitutional conundrum I pointed out earlier in the week (and Cable’s justification for his decision is phrased in terms of ‘it’s my department, therefore I have to vote for it’), but sadly affords him no further credibility as a principled politician.
